1996 Lajpat blast: SC revokes acquittal of 2, says HC erred

Calling the chilling May 1996 Lajpat Nagar car bomb blast which killed 13 people and injured 38 an international conspiracy to destabilise India, the Supreme Court on Thursday reversed the acquittal of two Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Front (JKIF) militants, maintained convictions of two more and put them in jail till death. The court suspected that “influential persons” ensured that only a few of the many accused faced trial.
