3 million Indians at risk of Sikkim-like disaster: International study

A recent study led by scientists at UK’s Newcastle University has highlighted the danger of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) to the lives of three million people in vulnerable areas of the Himalayan states. The study found that India and Pakistan account for one-third of the global population exposed to such GLOFs.
