35 lakh refund cases ‘held up’ for various reasons; Income tax department call centre working to resolve: CBDT chairperson

The Income Tax Department in India currently has around 35 lakh cases of refund issuance held up due to mismatch and validation issues with taxpayers’ bank accounts. The department has set up a special call center to reach out to these taxpayers and resolve the issues as quickly as possible. The department has already resolved 1.4 lakh cases through this call center. The department aims to expand the call center to other regions and cities.
