4 dupe power users, cause Rs 13L revenue loss to utility
Four individuals, including an employee of a firm contracted by MSEDCL, have been charged with causing a revenue loss of Rs13 lakh to the power utility and cheating three consumers. The group posed as members of an MSEDCL flying squad and convinced consumers to replace their electricity meters to avoid inflated bills. The fraud was discovered when the power utility board realized there was no record of the replacement meters. The suspects took money from the consumers to replace the devices, resulting in a loss of 1.22 lakh units of electricity.
