New research suggests that walking 4,000 steps per day can reduce the risk of premature death due to health-related issues. The study’s findings were not intended to discourage people from striving for a higher goal, rather offer hope to those already struggling. While those walking 10,000 steps obtain a better health outcome, 4,000 steps a day is a doable number, says a physiologist and biomechanics expert. Benefits of an early morning walk include pushing the body into fat-burning mode, reducing stress, and lower blood pressure.
