‘Congress shedding crocodile tears for farmers’: FM Sitharaman

Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman criticized the Congress, claiming that the UPA-1 government had ignored the national commission on farmers’ recommendation to set up a minimum support price in 2007. She said that the Congress rejected the MS Swaminathan report and lacked implementation over the past decade. Sitharaman also credited PM Modi for introducing the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
