Governor is not an umpire to decide if policy is right: Chandru

The Tamil Nadu governor is not an umpire to decide whether a policy of the state government is right or wrong, said Justice K Chandru, former judge of Madras high court. Talking to TOI about Governor R N Ravi’s decision to return the state’s Bill to ban online games like rummy, Justice Chandru said the governor was trying to destabilise the elected government. “By giving his nod to promulgate an Ordinance passed by the state on the same issue, the governor had become the author of the Ordinance.
