Albopictus, mosquito that caused dengue surges in 1950s, back

Aedes albopictus, a dengue-carrying mosquito species that was prevalent in Kolkata during the 1950s and 1960s, has resurfaced. This mosquito prefers rural areas and bushes, in contrast to the commonly found Aedes aegypti. Their larvae have been discovered in the city’s peripheral areas, raising concerns among entomologists and doctors about increased dengue cases.
