Sufi shrines body hails bid to amend Waqf Act
AISSC, representing Sufi shrines, supported the government’s proposal to amend the Waqf Act, citing dargahs as victims of mismanagement and corruption. AISSC Chairman Syed Naseruddin Chishty emphasized the need for a separate dargah board under the law. They met officials and highlighted continuous legal battles faced by smaller dargahs, demanding wider consultations on the bill. They highlighted that smaller dargahs are often slapped with notices resulting in endless legal battles.
