India exported 2.6 lakh tonne onions in Apr-July

India exported 2.6 lakh tonnes of onions till July this fiscal year after the government lifted the export prohibition in May, setting a minimum export price of $550 per tonne and a 40% export duty. Minister B L Verma reported that higher prices boosted farmers’ earnings, especially in Maharashtra.
