Germany’s Yemisi Ogunleye won gold in the women’s shot put final at the Paris Olympics with a final throw of 20.00 meters, overtaking New Zealand’s Maddison-Lee Wesche who managed 19.86 meters. China’s Song Jiayuan secured bronze with 19.32 meters. Ogunleye’s win marked Germany’s first gold in this event since 1996.
