Kolkata doctor murder: ‘Accused failed to explain his presence at hospital’

The investigation disclosed that the doctor was asleep when civic volunteer Sanjay Roy attacked her in the seminar room. Post-dinner, she decided to study and rest. Roy, intoxicated, returned to the hospital around 4 am and entered the emergency building. He later confessed to throttling the doctor after she resisted. Protests erupted on the RG Kar campus.
