Dam gate gives way, puts lakhs in Karnataka, Andhra at flood risk

The 19th crest gate of the 71-year-old Tungabhadra dam in Karnataka malfunctioned, leading to potential flooding risks downstream in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Engineers estimated that 60TMCFT of water needs to be drained before replacing the gate.
