Allahabad high court orders inquiry into mysterious death of sub-inspector Manoj Kumar

The Allahabad High Court in Lucknow directed the Inspector General of Police to register a case and probe the death of Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar, found dead with a gunshot wound at Machhrehta police station, Sitapur. The investigation is to be led by a senior IPS officer from another district. This order followed a petition by Geeta Devi, Kumar’s wife, alleging her husband’s murder by the Station House Officer and other personnel, who extorted money from him. Initially reported as a suicide, the court’s directive aims to address the serious allegations of corruption.
