A study linked the July 30 Wayanad landslides to heavy rainfall spurred by human-induced climate change. Over 140 mm of rain fell on already saturated soils in a single day, triggering massive landslides. Researchers suggested minimizing deforestation and quarrying while enhancing early warning and evacuation systems to mitigate future events.
