SC reaffirms ‘general’ seats open to meritorious SC/ST/OBC candidates

The Supreme Court confirmed that SC/ST/OBC candidates who qualify on their own merit can compete for open seats in the general category. The court identified errors in Madhya Pradesh’s 2023-24 medical college admissions, stressing that both horizontal and vertical reservations should not restrict meritorious candidates from accessing open seats.
