An earthquake registering 5.0 on the Richter scale shook the upper Hunter Valley region, impacting areas including Coffs Harbour, Sydney, and Canberra. The quake, situated near Muswellbrook with a depth of 10 km, led to minor structural damage but no major injuries. More than 2000 customers lost power in various towns.
