Chevella banyans going down one by one, say greens

Environmentalists claimed that the number of ancient banyans in Chevella dropped from 917 in 2022 to 880 now. Despite ongoing legal efforts to protect them, several trees were burnt or cut down. Although the National Green Tribunal mandated an environmental impact assessment before highway expansion, no substantial action has been taken yet.
