BJP calls for Bengal Bandh over police ‘brutality’; TMC claims foul play

The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a 12-hour general strike in West Bengal to protest police action against participants of a march to the state secretariat. The protest followed the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor. The West Bengal government has assured that normal life will remain unaffected during the strike.
