Denis Villeneuve considers ‘Dune 3’ his final contribution to the Franchise, not a Trilogy

Villeneuve emphasized that his intention was always to create two films that would fully encapsulate the first Dune novel. He considers that phase of the project finished. However, Dune 3, currently in the early stages of development, will be a different kind of film, not just a continuation of the story. The director expressed that, if he moves forward with it, the third installment would have its own distinct style and identity, separating it from the previous two films.
