Iran’s new president travels to neighboring Iraq on his first trip abroad

Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian traveled to Iraq to strengthen economic and security ties amid rising regional tensions. The visit includes stops at Shiite shrines and a railroad project. Despite past missile attacks and US sanctions, both countries seek closer cooperation. Iraqi militias allied with Iran have targeted US forces in Iraq recently.
