India produces most plastic pollution in the world, contributes 20% of global waste: A study finds

India leads globally in plastic waste production with an annual output of 9.3 million tonnes. A University of Leeds study reveals that India burns 5.8 million tonnes and releases another 3.5 million tonnes into the environment each year, outpacing Nigeria, Indonesia, and China in terms of plastic pollution.
