Onam 2024: Date, Time, History and Significance

Onam is a key Hindu festival for South Indians, especially Malayalis and Keralites. Celebrated on September 15 in 2024, it marks King Mahabali’s annual visit to Kerala. The festivities include prayers, vibrant decorations, traditional dishes, cultural events like dance and boat races, and acts of charity. Lord Vishnu took a form of Vamana Avatar (Brahmin) and went to King Mahabali to test him and asked for three feet of land from Mahabali.
