Ajit Pawar-Praful Patel faction appoints Sunil Tatkare as Maharashtra NCP chief, says Sharad Pawar is still national president

The breakway NCP faction led by Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar and senior leader Praful Patel on Monday appointed Sunil Tatkare as the state party chief while “sacking” the current president Jayant Patil.Ajit Pawar, who had pulled a coup in the party on Sunday, clarified that Sharad Pawar remains the national party president.Speaking to reporters, the Ajit Pawar faction of NCP said that the decision to join the Maharashtra government was for the “betterment of the state”.
