Survivor of rare rapid-ageing disease progeria dies at 28

Sammy Basso, the longest living survivor of progeria, has died at 28. Progeria causes rapid aging and has a life expectancy of 13.5 years. Basso, diagnosed at two, co-founded the Italian Progeria Association and was featured in a National Geographic documentary. There are 130 recognized cases worldwide.
