China launches survey to understand ‘fear of having children’

China is conducting a large-scale survey across 150 counties to understand public attitudes towards childbirth and address declining birth rates. Officials aim to use the insights for data-driven fertility support policies, promoting marriage and childbirth at appropriate ages, and ensuring shared parenting responsibilities.
