PoP idols rule Hyderabad pandals

Despite efforts by the state government and high court to promote the use of eco-friendly Ganeshas, most pandals in Hyderabad are still using Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols. Many organizers are also refusing to immerse the idols in designated ponds and lakes, going against the court’s orders. The demand for PoP idols remains high due to their attractiveness and lower cost compared to clay idols. Lack of availability and fear of damage during transportation are cited as reasons for choosing PoP idols. However, some colonies and individuals have made the conscious decision to use clay idols, especially for smaller sizes.
