Once a drought-hit district, UP’s Banda gets top national award for water conservation

Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, previously plagued by drought and farmer suicides, won the best district (North Zone) national award for water management. UP was also honored as the second-best state for water conservation. Efforts included reviving ponds, constructing soak pits, and promoting drip irrigation and tree plantation projects.
