The Supreme Court of India will test the validity of a constitutional amendment that extends reservation of seats for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Lok Sabha and assemblies until 2030. The court clarified that it would not examine the validity of previous amendments extending reservation for SCs and STs. The amendment in question was filed in 2000, challenging the extension of reservation until 2010 instead of 2000.
