The tradition of living Kali lingers in Kolkata

Durgapurlane Jagarani Sangha in Chetla revives its iconic Jibanta Kali tradition for Kali Puja, blending Baul culture’s mysticism. Children in the neighborhood will dress as Bauls, while two young girls perform as living representations of Goddess Kali. The pandal features 20-25 feet high ektaras, enhancing the Baul-inspired theme.
