Revitalising Kolkata’s Rabindra Sarobar: KMDA proposes mechanical dredging to enhance lake’s health

Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority aims to study Rabindra Sarobar’s lake bed and water quality to rejuvenate it. They plan to gather data, assess toxicity levels, and propose mechanical dredging to the National Green Tribunal. Manual dredging has been insufficient, leading to fish deaths. The lake was recently detoxified using quicklime and other rejuvenation methods are being considered.
