Facebook parent Meta to face trial over 10-year-old Instagram and WhatsApp acquisitions

A federal judge has ruled that Meta will face trial over its acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp. The FTC alleges that Meta purchased these companies to stifle competition in the social media market. While the judge dismissed some of the FTC’s claims, the core argument regarding anti-competitive acquisitions will proceed to trial.
