Anurag Thakur cancels China visit over denial of visa to Arunachal athletes

Union sports minister Anurag Thakur has cancelled his visit to China for the Asian Games after Chinese authorities denied accreditation to sportspersons from the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The Ministry of External Affairs has condemned China’s discriminatory actions, stating that India rejects differential treatment of its citizens based on domicile or ethnicity. The ministry also highlighted that China’s actions violate the spirit of the Asian Games and the rules governing their conduct.
