Chennai beaches to be no-plastic zones, daily raids to be held

Greater Chennai Corporation has marked the beaches at the Marina, Besant Nagar and Thiruvanmiyur as no-plastic zones. This goes in line with the beach restoration initiative mooted by the housing department recently at a cost of ₹100 crore. According to a statement, the city corporation has said every morning and evening, anti-plastic raids will be held on the beaches by the health officers of the respective zones.
