Not just Jinaraj, 1.3k other jailbirds have slipped through prison bars in Gujarat

Since 1972, 1,379 prisoners in Gujarat have escaped from jail by taking advantage of temporary release options such as interim bail or parole. Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad has the highest number of escapees with 740 cases recorded, followed by Rajkot Central Jail with 296 incidents. The Gujarat police have dedicated teams to track down and apprehend escapees, but there may be discrepancies in the records. Tarun Jinaraj, accused of killing his wife in 2003, recently escaped after being granted temporary bail and is believed to have fled to another country.
