Polls show Australia Indigenous referendum support slipping, likely to fail

Two opinion polls have shown that support for a referendum to constitutionally recognize Australia’s Indigenous people has slipped further, with the proposal set to fail in a national vote. Support for a “Voice to Parliament” fell to 33%, while the ‘No’ vote reached 50%. Opposition to the referendum rose to 56%. The referendum, which requires a majority of votes nationwide and support from at least four of the six states, will be held on October 14.
