India aims to become a drone hub by 2030, but experts highlight the country’s dependence on semiconductor chip imports as a challenge. The annual sales and turnover of drone manufacturing companies are projected to increase from Rs 60 crore in 2020-21 to over Rs 900 crore in 2023-24. Drones are being used in the defense sector for reconnaissance, surveillance, and neutralizing enemy targets. Counter-drone technology development is also essential.
