Forces guilty of medical negligence, says Supreme Court, gives ex-IAF man ₹1.5cr

The Supreme Court has awarded compensation of Rs 1.5 crore to a defence personnel who contracted HIV during a blood transfusion while on duty in Jammu Kashmir. The court held the Indian Air Force and the Indian Army jointly liable for medical negligence and criticized the government and forces for not treating the officer with dignity and compassion. The court also directed the government and every court to prioritize cases of people suffering from AIDS.
