The Punjab government has committed to reduce stubble burning by 50% compared to last year, according to the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM). The government has submitted a state action plan and district-wise action plan to achieve this goal. Punjab aims to make six districts stubble burning-free and has identified land parcels for straw storage. The government is also raising awareness among farmers through various means and plans to felicitate progressive farmers who promote stubble management. CAQM has reviewed stubble management preparations in Haryana as well.
