HP fruit growers faced losses worth Rs 126 cr this monsoon

Fruit growers in Himachal Pradesh have suffered losses amounting to Rs 126 crore ($16.7 million) due to floods and landslides caused by monsoon rains. The worst affected areas were Shimla and Kullu districts, with losses of Rs 67.87 crore and Rs 36.10 crore respectively. The government has allocated Rs 4 crore ($530,000) to the horticulture department for assistance, with Rs 11 crore ($1.5 million) specifically for Shimla district. The apple crop in Kullu and Shimla was also affected by disease and transportation was hindered by landslides.
