24×7 supply, RO plants: Delhi govt to divert money from other departments to DJB

The AAP government in Delhi plans to divert funds from other departments to the Delhi Jal Board in order to finance its initiatives for providing piped water 24×7 and installing reverse osmosis purification plants in water-scarce areas. Three departments have offered to surrender over Rs 700 crore from their allocated budgets, while the Delhi Jal Board has requested an additional Rs 1,800 crore. The government aims to provide round-the-clock potable water by 2025 and address water contamination issues. The finance department is currently studying the communication and may soon allocate funds to the DJB.
