70% of premature cancer deaths in 2020 were preventable: Study

Approximately 70% of the 5.3 million premature deaths from cancer in 2020 were preventable, according to a study published in The Lancet Global Health. The research found that tobacco, alcohol, obesity, and infections were responsible for around 1.3 million deaths in women globally. The study also highlighted that lung and colorectal cancers were among the leading causes of cancer deaths in women.
