President Murmu gives nod, women’s quota now a law

President Droupadi Murmu has given her assent to the women’s reservation bill that was cleared by both houses of Parliament during a special session earlier this month.Following the President’s nod, the government of India has issued a gazette notification for the legislation, officially known as Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.The bill, which is now an Act, proposes 33 per cent reservation for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
