No woman doctor in Pilibhit women hospital, rape survivors refuse test

In UP’s Pilibhit district, 70 out of 79 rape survivors have declined medical examination by a male doctor because women doctors are not available at the district women’s hospital. The hospital is currently managed by a male medical superintendent and a male gynecologist. Survivors and legal experts argue that not giving the option of being examined by a woman doctor is a violation of both the law and the survivor’s right to privacy.
