19-year-old St Xavier’s student dies in car crash on Maa flyover

A 19-year-old student from St Xavier’s College died and four others were injured in a car accident on Maa flyover in Kolkata. The car was travelling at high speed and overshot a left turn, crashing into a lamp post and jumping the divider before landing on the opposite side. The driver was stuck in the car for 90 minutes before being extricated and pronounced dead at the hospital. The other occupants were rescued and taken to the hospital. The police have ruled out drink-driving and are investigating the incident.
