With 12 organ donations till Sept, state set to beat ’22 stats

Experts at a seminar on organ donation in Kolkata emphasized the need for more brain death declarations to increase the number of deceased organ donations in Bengal. While the number of cadaver organ donations is expected to rise from 15 in 2022 to at least 18 to 19 this year, experts believed that the growth could have been better. They called for increased awareness and involvement of NGOs and social workers to create awareness about organ donation. The seminar also highlighted the importance of spreading organ extraction and transplantation facilities across the city and districts.
