The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall in every district of Bihar state. Heavy rainfall was recorded in Purnia district, while light to moderate rainfall was recorded in most places in the state. Gaya, where many pilgrims have gathered, received 3.0mm rainfall on Sunday and is expected to experience heavy rainfall on Monday. The state has a rainfall deficiency of 23% this monsoon, with average to less than average rainfall expected in October.
