India urges WTO members to start text-based talks on finding permanent solution to public food stockholding

India has called for text-based negotiations to find a permanent solution to the issue of public stockholding for food security at the World Trade Organization (WTO). The European Union (EU) has expressed readiness to discuss the issue. The topic was discussed at an agriculture negotiations meeting in Geneva, where the EU responded positively to suggestions related to safeguards and anti-circumvention measures.
