Polythene, power, price: Kaushal gang’s key extortion business, running on ‘PPP’ mode

Thirteen members of the Kaushal gang, one of the largest organised extortion rackets in the NCR region, were arrested by Gurgaon police in an undercover operation. Atul Khatana, the alleged operator of the racket, and Sujit alias Bullet, a trusted associate, were among those held. The gang earned around Rs 20 lakh per month by creating a monopoly on the sale of polythene bags and power supply to vendors at Khandsa Mandi. The arrests will impact the gang’s cash flow as extortion is a major source of revenue.
