Dutee slams Swapna for ‘transgender’ slur

Olympian Dutee Chand has criticized athlete Swapna Barman for calling teammate Nandini Agasara a transgender. Dutee, who has experienced a ban herself for hyperandrogenism, stated that there are several athletes in India with high testosterone levels. She defended Nandini, pointing out that she has competed in various national and international events without any complaints. Swapna has lodged a protest against Nandini, but the new regulations state that athletes with differences in sexual development must lower their testosterone levels to compete in women’s events. Transgender athletes are barred from competing.
